Shavon Akhan has 18 years of experience as a Natural Hair Stylist in
Chicago. During this time she established a flourishing business in the Hyde
Park neighborhood where she trained and managed a full staff of stylist , with
a loyal clientele, some of which have relied on her for their hair care needs
since she began her career til now.

Shavon currently works independently in the South loop area of Chicago and
is implementing a long time goal of encouraging and inspiring young girls to
honor themselves and their crowns in her 'I LOVE MY HAIR" workshop.

Since attending Dudley's Beauty College in 95', she decided to focus her
business on preserving the integrity of this cultural art form now called   
Natural Hairstyling. " I consider myself to be an organic stylist, in that, I am
collaborating with my clients to create Natural styles that are not done at the
expense of maintaining and cultivating healthy hair."

In addition, Shavon is a member of The American Hairbraiders and Natural
Haircare Association (AHNNA). She has and continues to participate in
numerous workshops and seminars on the latest innovations in the Natural
Hair Care industry.  Shavon has received certification in over 20 techniques,
some of which were provided by master braider Taliah Waajid.

"My intention is to continue and honor the legacy of our ancestors with this
art form of hair design, and to create an environment that is holistic and
nurturing to our sacred beauty."
